Global Decentralization and Local Development Webinar Series: Updates

On June 1, 2021, the Local Public Sector Alliance—in collaboration with the World Bank Subnational Governance and Decentralization Global Solutions Group, UNDP, UNCDF and other partners—announced the Global Decentralization and Local Development Webinar Series for 2021-2022, with knowledge events covering each of the global regions.

As part of the Global Webinar Series, the Alliance and its partners hosted four webinars on Decentralization and Local Development in Asia in September 2021. In December, the Alliance and its partners hosted eight webinars on Decentralization and Local Development in Sub-Saharan Africa in September 2021. The first two rounds of the Global Webinar Series brought together leading decentralization experts from around the world and attracted hundreds of participants.

Videos of all webinar sessions are now available online. All videos can be accessed by following the links to the regional webinar pages (above).

In order to better align the upcoming webinars on Decentralization and Local Development in Latin America and the Caribbean with ongoing efforts of the Inter-American Development Bank, the regional webinars for Latin America and the Caribbean have been rescheduled for the week of May 9-13, 2022.

Simultaneously, the regional deadline for the Outstanding Decentralization Paper Award for the Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) region has been updated to April 8, 2022.

This means that the next round of webinars as part of the Global Webinar Series will be on Decentralization and Local Development in the Middle East & North Africa (MENA) from March 7-11, 2022. A detailed schedule for the MENA webinar series will be made available in mid-February 2022.
