Online Seminar: Reimagining Decentralisation in Kerala: Local Governance for a Sustainable Future

Since 1996, Kerala’s Local Self Governments (LSGs) have been at the forefront of participatory planning and grassroots democracy. Yet, new challenges—climate change, widening inequalities, and rapid urbanisation—demand fresh approaches. Strengthening autonomy, fiscal resilience, and institutional innovation will be key to building the next phase of decentralisation in Kerala.
This online seminar brings together global, national, and local perspectives to reimagine Kerala’s governance journey and explore pathways for sustainable, inclusive, and accountable local development.
Seminar Format & Schedule
- One presentation per day, followed by a panel discussion featuring International, National, and Local experts.
- Expected Outcome: Actionable insights and policy directions for Kerala’s next phase of decentralisation—making governance more resilient, inclusive, and future-ready.
