Virtual Knowledge Exchange: Fiscal and Financial Resilience for Subnational Governments

SECO and World Bank: Building Sovereign Financial Resilience in Middle Income Countries

Live country case studies. This virtual knowledge exchange will introduce you to the different roles and responsibilities of national and subnational governments, particularly when responding to natural disasters and how to strengthen subnational governments’ risk financing capacity towards better local and national resilience.

This Knowledge Exchange Series, which is jointly hosted by Switzerland’s State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and World Bank Group’s (WBG) Disaster Risk Financing and Insurance Program (DRFIP), aims to empower governments supported under the SECO program to increase their financial resilience against natural disasters and their capacity to meet post-disaster funding needs, which are key to better managing their contingent liabilities related to natural disasters and becoming more effective risk managers.
