The Asian Development Bank Governance Thematic Group is pleased to announce the launch of its publication “Decentralization, Local Governance, and Localizing SDGs in Asia and the Pacific”. The publication has been co-edited by Bruno Carrasco, Director General Sustainable Development and Climate Change Department, Hanif A. Rahemtulla, Principal Public Management Specialist, SDCC, and Rainer Rohdewohld, Senior Decentralization Policy Advisor. It has been published as part of the Routledge Studies in Sustainable Development under a co-publishing agreement between ADB and Routledge.
Join the book launch hosted by the Asian Development Bank on March 3, 2023, 09:00 to 10:30 a.m., Manila time (GMT+8). This is a hybrid event. Snacks and coffee are available for onsite participants at the ADB KHub. Online participants may register here.
Using country examples and conceptual analyses, the book explores the required nexus between fiscal, political, and legal arrangements for sub-national governments; their involvement in national policy arenas (which discuss and decide on national strategies on Sustainable Development Goals or SDGs); and the need for locally disaggregated data systems on the one hand, and effective SDG localization strategies on the other hand.
The event and publication will be of interest to policymakers, scholars and practitioners in public policy and public administration, decentralization, and sustainable development, with a focus on the Asia and Pacific region.
Visit the event site for more information and registration.
