LPSA launches Expert Working Group on Decentralization in Europe and Central Asia

As a global alliance that champions decentralization and inclusive development, the Local Public Sector Alliance aims to organize itself in an inclusive and participatory manner, including by supporting platforms for knowledge sharing and policy dialogue at the regional and country level.

As such, the Local Public Sector is please to announce the launch of the LPSA Expert Working Group on Europe and Central Asia (ECA). The LPSA Expert Working Group on ECA is jointly co-chaired a number of leading decentralization and local governance experts in the region, including Adrian Ionescu, Jelena Janevska, Gábor Péteri, and Glendal Wright.

LPSA’s newly-formed Expert Working Group aims to bring together government officials, policy practitioners, scholars, civil society organizations, and citizens who share an interest and expertise on decentralization, multilevel governance, intergovernmental relations, local governance and local development in Central and Eastern Europe as well as Central Asia.

As part of its efforts, the ECA Working Group is organizing four upcoming webinar events on the state of decentralization and local development in the ECA Region in early November 2022.

The LPSA Expert Working Group on Europe and Central Asia expects to meet at least on a quarterly basis. The first public meeting of the Expert Working Group is scheduled to take place on November 21, 2022, (10:00 am NYC/DC; 16:00 Budapest; 21:00 Almaty). Register now for this open meeting to join the policy dialogue on decentralization and local governance in the ECA Region.

Working group purpose and activities. The LPSA Expert Working Group for the ECA Region seeks to assess, advance, and share the state of global knowledge on decentralization, multilevel governance, intergovernmental relations, local governance and local development in the ECA Region.

The working group’s activities will be driven by the interests of its members, and will include quarterly working group meetings; efforts to advance the general state of knowledge on decentralization and localization in Europe and Central Asia; explore topics of mutual interest; and knowledge sharing. More information on the Expert Working Group is online at: http://decentralization.net/ewg/eca/
