SUMMARY:Gender Responsive Governance Course
DESCRIPTION:Gender equality is fundamentally linked to people-centered sustainable development. In the context of local government\, gender equality is critical as women\, men\, and people with diverse gender identities face different challenges for full participation\, representation and equal (work) opportunities. Measures that ensure equitable access to resources and services are necessary to achieve inclusive and gender responsive governance. \nThis course discusses gender dynamics and focuses on the different needs and priorities of women\, men\, young girls and boys. We discuss gender-sensitive strategies and tools for gender analysis\, gender mainstreaming and gender-responsive budgeting in policies and programmes at the local level. Special attention is given to the involvement of marginalised groups in development initiatives. The course also discusses how best to engage men and how to address cross-cutting issues when applying a diverse gender perspective (intersectionality)\, particularly in complex cultural\, religious\, or fragile settings. \nThanks to presentations from international experts\, interactive exercises\, and visits to inspiring initiatives in The Netherlands\, participants will be able to:  \n\nAnalyse how gender power dynamics and norms shape decision making and policy formulation  \nApply tools for conducting gender analysis and gender mainstreaming in projects and policies  \nPromote gender sensitivity in programmes for peacebuilding in countries affected by violent conflict   \nDesign strategies to promote women’s participation in decision making and economic development\, and engage men in promoting gender equality \nDesign and lead gender budgeting processes  \nPromote initiatives such as father centre Adam and the Dutch Gender Platform WO=MEN \n\nWe offer a 50% fee reduction for staff of local governments or local NGOs in countries on the OECD-DAC list. \nLearn more and apply on our website: https://thehagueacademy.com/course/gender-responsive-governance/
