DESCRIPTION:The Local Public Sector Alliance’s (LPSA) Thematic Working Group on Gender Equity and Women’s Empowerment (GEWE) invites members and allies to an informal networking session on the margins of the UCLG World Congress in Tangier\, Morocco. \nTaking place on Monday\, June 22\, 2026\, from 4:00–5:00 PM\, this gathering offers a unique opportunity to connect in person with practitioners\, researchers\, policymakers\, and civil society leaders working at the intersection of decentralization\, localization\, and gender equality and discuss. The session will focus on “Advancing the Debate and Catalyzing Action on Decentralization and Local Governance in a Gendered World”\, creating space to reflect on emerging challenges\, share practice\, and identify concrete avenues for future collaboration. \nWhy Attend? \nThis intimate meet-up creates space for GEWE Working Group members and LPSA colleagues to build meaningful connections ahead of the official Congress program. The session will feature a reflection on the working group’s activities and achievements since its establishment\, offering participants a chance to take stock of progress and impact. \nOver coffee and light refreshments\, members will share updates on their work in the decentralization\, localization\, and gender equality space\, fostering peer learning and identifying potential collaborations.
